Liquorice is a song about trying to please other people, and then drifting off into an imaginary world to try and please yourself. The song was written at a time when Jemima was putting a lot of pressure on herself. She thinks women feel like they should look a certain way or try to be something else, and was definitely feeling it that day.
Jemime wrote this track in a short space of time, on an acoustic guitar and then recording it.
